Berry Global has reported a positive uptake of their Silotite Pro1800 Sustane® balewrap film which launched October 2023. Berry estimates that in 2024, over 2 million silage bales were wrapped with the film. Incorporating 25% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content, Silotite Pro1800 Sustane represents a significant step forward in combining sustainability with high-performance agricultural solutions. Feedback suggests continued strong adoption for next season.
Thanks to Berry’s in-house recycling capabilities and advanced R&D expertise, they have successfully integrated the PCR content without compromising on performance. By incorporating PCR materials, the Silotite Pro1800 Sustane film helps to divert plastic waste from landfills and supports the circular economy. Additionally, the film’s RecyClass certification ensures full traceability of the recycled content, providing users with confidence in the material’s sustainability claims.
Berry’s commitment to advancing sustainability extends beyond PCR integration. Under the Silotite brand Berry has introduced a range of initiatives to reduce resource usage and improve operational efficiency for their customers. For example, the company’s patented Pro technology allows them to successfully lightweight films while producing a longer overall reel, without a compromise to technical performance. This helps to reduce material consumption while enabling more bales to be wrapped per reel. Additionally, their Baletite® netwrap replacement film - manufactured from the same base material as balewrap - allows farmers to recycle both products together, eliminating the need to separate them after use.
